Taking the Title in Turkey!

September 25

Alanya ETU European Cup
Max, Felix and Dan all raced at ETU European Cup in Alanya, Turkey.  The swim was the usual rough ride for many, but Max and Felix made it into the main group out of the swim, and were in the front group into T2.  Dan was just off the pace in the water but we are working on that; and worked hard to drive his group on the bike.
Onto the run, Max held strong as the pace was on immediatey out of T2 and grew stronger with every km to take the win. Well done Max, a nice reward for the recent hard work, and believing you could do it.
Felix didn't have the run strength in him, and Dan was behind the curve not being in the front group - and they came in a creditable 17th, and 24th. The journey continues as we build to 2020.

Olympic Distance action in China
Julie and Barb both raced in China this past weekend, Julie taking on the ITU Weihai World Cup whilst Barb headed over for the 7th running of the lucrative Beijing International.
Julie needed all her resolve to overcome a rough swim, fighting back on the bike and crossing the finish line in 13th position.
A good effort by Barb saw her fall just short of the podium in Beijing, finishing with the chocolate medal. Both are looking forward to more hard racing in the coming weeks.

Ironman Italy Emilia-Romagna
A great performance by Federica at her home Ironman in Italy. The Roman continues to make substantial progress in each discipline, and it was very pleasing to see her finishing with the fastest run of the day and 5th position overall.

Backing up from Ironman Kalmar just 5 weeks before, Elena was questioning her recovery as we rolled into race week. But ready she was..., staring down her fears on the swim as she swam through the jellyfish on route to another Personal Best performance.

Although not the result Mark was after at Ironman Italy, given his recent illness, a bike PB was not such a bad consolation. Some well earned rest and relaxation are now on the cards, after a super 2018 race season with PB's in Ironman swim, bike, finish time and placings. Well done Mark.

Zeinulla trained hard for Ironman Italy, however was also hinded by illness in the final month of preparation. A great swim and bike, and an early DNF in the run. We look to a period of rest now, then rebuild for an early 2019 goal.
