Racing your Teammates

March 4

Durban Ultra Triathlon - South Africa
James and Matty both raced in the Durban Ultra, with a 1st and 2nd place finish. With both team mates focusing on Ironman South Africa in April they had a gentlemen’s agreement to still do their marathon long run training day as usual on Thursday before the race. Was an excellent hit out for both, that they will benefit from at Ironman SA.

Raby Bay Triathlon - Queensland Tri Series - Australia
Barb, Michi, Andrea, and Gaspar made the 4am trek from the Sunshine Coast training base to Raby Bay near Brisbane for round 7 of the QLD Tri Series. Was a sprint format with all out racing from the gun.

Barb was chasing hard the whole race, as the lead female was out with the boys in the male and female open athletes starting together. Was a solid second place podium finish, and excellent training day.

The boys all led the swim, before Michi built up a lead on the bike. Over the 6km run Andrea and Gaspar were using their short course speed to chase, but Michi held tough for the win; 10 years after his last win at this race. Andrea and Gaspar rounded out the podium.

With everyone in full training, this was an excellent hit out on tired bodies. All showing improvement. Well done.

70.3 Bangsaen - Thailand

Straight from training camp on the Sunshine Coast, Nini bounced back into action at home taking on 70.3 Bangsaen last weekend. In what turned out to be a memorable day, Nini had a great race, securing both the Thai Title and her slot to the 70.3 World Championships. This was a very special race for Nini, with friends and family on the race course supporting her. Congratulations!

Powerman Malaysia

John raced with his country at heart, placing first Philippine at Powerman Malaysia duathlon, and third place overall. Even with the fastest run splits John couldn’t quite overcome the difference to the first two athletes after the bike. Excellent and hard racing.

Hit the road running for some early season speed...

Returning from training camp in Gran Canaria, Julie and Nina jumped into an 11k run race back home in Switzerland to test out their run fitness, both finishing with very pleasing results, whilst Jane went for a double header in London with 5k Saturday, 10k Sunday, on the march back to Ironman!
