Persevering to the Podium

November 20

Ironman Malaysia
Federica rounded out her first season as a professional athlete with a fantastic podium performance under the extreme conditions of Ironman Malaysia. The race threw everything at the athletes, heat, humidity, torrential rain and high winds. Piecing together everything she has learnt over the past year, Federica patiently persevered winning the mental battle with herself and being rewarded with her first Ironman podium. A great effort!

Brazilian Standard Triathlon Championship
Rei raced in the Brazilian National Olympic Distance championships in Rio de Janeiro. Due to bad weather the swim was replaced with a 5km run. Rei broke away in the last part of the bike, to have a good cushion that allowed him to run his own pace to defend the title and making him a 4 time winner of this event. Congratulations Rei!

Laguna Phuket - Thailand
Well done to Nini who defended her Thai Championship at her 'home' race, Laguna Phuket Triathlon (now in it's 25th year!)  This is a special race for Nini, firmly set as a must do event in her calendar, and once again she raced with all her heart, winning the Thai Championship and finishing 2nd in her Age Group.

Trichallenge Pichidangui - Chile
A solid training race over the 1.6/64/16k distance for Pamela, testing the waters after an unfortunate race crash last month. Second place finish and some good training in the legs. Well done Pamela.

Capital City Triathlon - New Zealand

Back in the saddle and back in the game, it is great to see Jane back racing as the NZ Tri season kicks into action. 2 months ago Jane had to forgo the ITU World Champs due to a broken wrist; being unable to swim was a big challenge to overcome but Jane has patiently built back into training bit by bit as she waited for the broken bones to heal. Welcome back!

Corrida Bulloise - Bulle, Switzerland
The mind overrides the body - a lesson taken on board by Sarah this week over a short fast run race. Sarah is all ready looking forward to testing herself again in a couple of weeks time.
